People remember you and recognize you if you appear on tv or in a movie anywhere. For example, my sister was the subject of one of those makeover shows and people recognize her all the time and compliment her or ask her questions. And it wasn't even a really well-known show! There has been so much criticism and speculation out there about this incident - from people who know nothing about it.<BR/><BR/>gibson, I agree with most of what you said, except about Orlando ‘using’ the paparazzi. He’s been as cordial as possible to them, but I don’t think he’s been the instigator when photos just happened to be taken of him at a restaurant or shop. The photo agencies pay for the chance to take these photos, and a lot of waiters and shop owners (and, yes, some performers) supplement their income that way.<BR/><BR/>I run an Orlando fan site and we do not allow what are commonly referred to as 'paparazzi' photos, but more specifically candid photos when he's on his own time, living his life. (The argument of 'as long as he doesn't appear upset' is, well, lame.) I was unfortunate enough to witness these people stalking him after a TV appearance, and they coordinate with chase cars and cell phones among each other - and were even bragging about catching someone (by staking out their home) in what could be construed as a compromising position. They are stalkers, pure and simple – and feel they have a sense of entitlement to follow these people around because they are in the ‘public eye’. Yes, I watched small bits of a couple of the videos from Thursday night, and was sickened and upset by the disgusting behavior of these people. They certainly didn’t care that someone was injured – but they got a dumpload of photos, didn’t they? And are proud of it.<BR/><BR/>'Paparazzi' used to mean those who take photos at public events such as premieres, charity events, etc. - that is expected (and courted) by those in show business. And for so many fans, that is enough – but not photos that intrude on his private life. I've heard a lot gushing about whether Orlando was somehow stoned or not. To me he seems to have been in a mental shock or something like that. It makes people act in a weird way as one is worried about friends and their wellbeing. Besides, a report from a police officer, or something (I read that over a report) said Orlando wasn't drunk and he wasn't speeding. We outsiders can only guess at what truly happened. I, myself, won't get judgmental right from the start... To me it just sad to see Fan sites in a big huff over this getting worked up yet when on the next page of their site they have paparazzi photos. Dont get the holier than thou attitude with the the paparazzi when they get enjoyment out of seeing pictures of him being stalked by them. Every fan has to think twice at what they are doing and see that the price of their worship does feed the need for these type of people. If no one watched ET or E! or bought magazines with paparazzi photos than there wouldn't be a need for them. Also Celebrities need to stop using them for press because once you utilize them and then want to get rid of them you cant. Orlando has used the paparazzi a lot for press. Half of middle America would still think he was some wooden pirate side kick to Johnny Depp, if it wasn't for tabloid magazines reporting his love life. Its just in videos before the accident he was acting weird and did you see him walk away from the crash when it first happened or did the paparazzi edit the video to make it look like he left the scene at first?
